"There is no future in Digital Video. You need a projector to watch it, whereas I prefer to wrap film reel around my face and pull." -Gregory P. Horseflower the Second
Come and be part of our Film Fest! Last December, and again this June, we hosted a week-long series of screenings at a number of conveniently located venues around the inner ring roads. The selected works were ones never-before seen in Beijing- created with newness by Chinese and Western directors set to intrigue and inspire audiences aplenty. We will be open to further submissions until the very beginning of December 2008, and hope to be pleasantly surprised by what we receive! Nearly all submissions are welcome, since we even have a special awards category for the worst of the lot!
With independent film screenings in Beijing occurring increasingly frequently, a few of the involved Chinese and foreign organizations one day got together and realized that there was no unifying event bringing all of us together under one banner to promote the cross-cultural communication these screenings catalyze. Thus our New International Film Movie Week was born. -A series of well promoted screenings to raise awareness among the international community about Chinese independent film screenings, and to bring more local Chinese friends to international screening events.
Our first screening series took place December 17~23, 2007, the second was held from June 1~8 2008, and aside from those we've participated in many other screening events both in-between and after. We feature unique Chinese and foreign films shown at a variety of venues to a diverse audience. Movies with Chinese dialogue all have English Subtitles, and movies with English dialogue all have Chinese subtitles. Movies with dialogue in other languages are shown with both English and Chinese subtitles.
