"Beneath the Surface" provides a rare look at an exceptional, yet under-exposed sport through the eyes of one of its greatest practitioners, 3 time Olympian Wolf Wigo – the captain of the US Olympic Water Polo Team in 2004.  Here in Beijing 2008  Wolf is the on-air NBC commentator / analyst for the men's and women's water polo games. 

“表层之下”观察了体育运动中特殊的、未被暴光的一面。它以最伟大的运动员之一，沃尔夫.威格的视角，提供了一个罕见的视野。沃尔夫.威格曾三次参加奥运会，并且是2004年美国奥林匹克水球队的队长。这次2008年北京奥运会上，沃尔夫.威是NBC公司的广播评论员和分析员，他将评析男子和女子的水球比赛。

Viewers will be dazzled by the fittest of all athletes and by the beauty of the aggressive, skillful and graceful actions of the best players as shown in Olympic footage. The documentary features interviews with the many of the world's greatest coaches and players and includes exciting action in the pool both above and below the water. It also illustrates in depth the grueling mental and physical stamina necessary to prevail while swimming up to 2 miles per game amidst fierce fighting and wrestling for position in water well over their heads. 

NYC boy, Wolf Wigo, has a dream to be on the US Olympic water polo team, overcomes geographical and physical obstacles until through training and determination achieves his goal 10 years later. The film shows exciting action above and below the water illustrating just how tough this sport is, and features many players and coaches from the last few Olympic Games as well as from the current 2008 Olympic team here in Beijing. Told from the point of view of Wolf's mom the story has behinds-the-scenes flavor and some "home footage". Authentic and real, the film shows both the challenges and the rewards of playing water polo in the US. Here they play for the true love of the game which is shown to be very different from playing abroad where the players are rich, famous stars.
